絵画、版画、立体など様々なモチーフを虹色のスペクトルで覆う作品で、「虹のアーティスト」として知られている。
1958年ニューヨークに渡り、国際的な前衛美術運動である「フルクサス」のメンバーとして、オノ・ヨーコやナム・ジュン・パイクらと共に活動。
周囲の環境を取り込んだインスタレーションや人間の五感に訴える作品を発表。
パフォーマンスやハプニングなど幅広い分野でユーモア溢れる独自の世界観を展開している。
Known as the “Rainbow Artist,” he is recognized for works that cover paintings, prints, and three-dimensional objects with iridescent spectrums of color.
In 1958, he moved to New York, where he became involved in Fluxus, the international avant-garde movement, working alongside figures such as Yoko Ono and Nam June Paik. He presented installations that incorporated the surrounding environment and works that appealed directly to the human senses. Across performance, happenings, and a wide range of media, he has unfolded a distinctive and humorous vision of the world.
