1953 池田満寿夫らと共にデモクラート美術家協会に参加
1954 東京教育大学（現・筑波大学）教育学部芸術学科卒業

絵画、版画、立体など様々なモチーフを虹色のスペクトルで覆う作品で、「虹のアーティスト」として知られている。
1958年ニューヨークに渡り、国際的な前衛美術運動である「フルクサス」のメンバーとして、オノ・ヨーコやナム・ジュン・パイクらと共に活動。
周囲の環境を取り込んだインスタレーションや人間の五感に訴える作品を発表。
パフォーマンスやハプニングなど幅広い分野でユーモア溢れる独自の世界観を展開している。
Known as the “Rainbow Artist” he is recognized for works that span painting, printmaking, and sculpture, all unified by the use of a vibrant rainbow spectrum that overlays a variety of motifs.
In 1958, he moved to New York and became a member of Fluxus, an international avant-garde art movement, where he collaborated with artists such as Yoko Ono and Nam June Paik.
He has created installations that incorporate elements of the surrounding environment and appeal directly to the human senses.
Through performances, happenings, and various other media, he continues to develop a unique and humorous artistic world that defies conventional boundaries.
